The basics
I turn on the music - jazz, blues or 70s rock and roll are preferred.
Then I use a photograph to begin the design process.
I always start with a drawing using black and gray pencils - all shades, all varieties - to plot the shapes. Then I let the lines flow.
Sometimes I decide the drawing should be used to create a painting of the subject too. The drawing provides the basic lines but I always make changes as I work. After all, it's a creative process.
